We have no idea what made the owner or owners name the horse Coroner, but with Jeff “Steptoe” Lloyd up, Coroner took out the last at the Sunshine Coast at odds of 58 to 1.

Since moving from Hong Kong to the Gold Coast, “Steptoe” has been bringing in the bacon- and at very good odds- on a regular basis and has taken off from where he stopped in Hong Kong.

Not to be outdone, Brisbane’s leading jockey- Chris “Monkey” Munce who left Hongkers a few years ago under a very dark cloud- and that’s putting it mildly- rode a treble and, in so doing, brought up his 100th winner for the season.

Meanwhile, over in Perth, Marco Chiu, who also left Hongkers under a big black cloud and is trying to pick up the pieces to a riding career that was in tatters, rode a brilliant race at the last to dead-heat for first place on 21 to 1 pop Milken Whisky.

Also amongst the winners in Oz was very talented former Hong Kong apprentice Thomas Yeung who won aboard 11 to 1 shot Salute The Sun at Geraldton.

Looking at today, James McDonald who starts a short riding stint in Hong Kong on Sunday, rode a double at Ruakaka in New Zealand was placed on nearly every race in the nine race card.
