Australian trainer John Size is a genius when it comes to running horses with plenty of improvement in hand which means that no matter how the handicapper might penalize his horses for their wins, they usually have something in hand.

We have seen this happen over and over again with Size’s horses and where horses can rack up four and five winners before the handicapper catches up with them. By then, the owners have made their money back and are looking at a good return-on-their investment.

On Sunday, Size and jockey Douglas Whyte combine with Can Do. At his last start in March, Can Do won by over two lengths over this same course and distance. For this win, he has gone up 13 points in the ratings, which seems harsh.

Then again, there is always mind games going on with the handicapper and the master Trainer and we’ll know after Race 7 who has “won.” Even though drawn barrier 12 over the 1200 metres, he really should be too good for what looks like an average field.
